From singing and dancing, to digging the garden, and staying calm in a crisis; the Alexander Technique teaches ease of movement, balance and coordination in all our activities.

By learning to release unnecessary tensions, and increase self-awareness, a return to natural poise becomes possible bringing improvements to mental and physical health, vitality, and wellbeing.

In this work we are consciously learning to rediscover the freedom, poise and connectedness of the small child.

Developed by F M Alexander in the 1800’s to overcome his own postural and vocal problems, the Technique is now taught worldwide in schools, music and drama colleges, and health clinics. It is used by athletes, actors, teachers, riders, office workers and in all professions where people want to change themselves and explore new outcomes.

During lessons a teacher works with verbal instructions and gentle guiding hands to encourage an improved neck/head back relationship, resulting in effortless uprightness greater awareness and an aptitude for thinking in activity

AT teachers complete a three year full time training.
