home page

The books are organised in sections - it isn't perfect and the categories are approximate, and some books are in more than one category - It's the best we can do!

  1. Introductory books - for people who want to know more about the Alexander Technique and who may be considering having lessons.

  2. Further Study - For committed pupils who want to develop their understanding of the Technique

  3. Illustrated Books - Books that use illustrations to give an impression of what the Technique is about. - Ideal gifts for people who wonder what you are up to.

  4. Specialist Applications for people who have had lessons and want to apply the Alexander Technique to their specialist field such as horse riding or music

  5. Miscellaneous - Books about Alexander, the History and Origins of the Alexander Technique

  6. Related Topics - Other books on subjects that are relevant to Alexander Technique pupils

We only offer books that in our view are accurate and make a positive contribution to the Technique. We don't recommend teach yourself style books, as, despite what the authors of such books may claim, you cannot learn the Alexander Technique from a book. Reading is seen as supplementary to lessons from a properly qualified teacher who has trained on an approved teacher training course requiring daily attendance over three years.
